• Review the interactions between MRI and cardiac implanted electronic devices (CIEDs) including CIED function, heating and force/torque.
• Describe a review of the literature regarding CIEDs.
• Discuss MRI conditional devices and recent modifications to reduce safety issues.
• Introduce and discuss a clinical workflow protocol for CIED patients requiring MR imaging.
• Review special situations including retained leads, imaging at 3T, thoracic imaging and recent device implantations; and show image examples.
